For Local Programs
ABCD success relies on local programs
The ABCD program in each Washington county or region is coordinated by the local health department or a community agency under the direction of the state Health Care Authority. Local ABCD coordinators work closely with the ABCD Dental Champion, dental society, and ABCD-participating dentists. They also outreach to organizations in which Apple Health-eligible (Medicaid) children receive services, to identify young children eligible for ABCD, orient the family to the program, and connect the child with an ABCD-certified dentist.
When needed, the local program helps ABCD families make and keep dental appointments by providing family education or helping families overcome obstacles to care, such as lack of transportation and language barriers.
